Bellasera sits on 9th Street South at the gateway to 5th Avenue South, which puts you at the top of the street that runs all the way down to the water. Our dock is at the far end of that run — Naples Bay Resort & Marina, 1500 5th Avenue South, on protected Naples Bay. Figure about a 5–10 minute drive or rideshare, though drop your own address into a map app before the first trip, because downtown traffic swings by the hour and by season. Suite-style rooms mean most families here book several nights rather than one, and that quietly changes the whole calculation. You don’t have to pick a single boat trip and hope it lands.

So build a water itinerary instead. Start early in the week with a dolphin tour on Naples Bay: it’s the shortest trip we run and it tells you fast how everyone handles a boat. Wild bottlenose dolphins live in this bay year-round and often roll up alongside, though they’re on their own schedule and we never promise them. Give the middle of the stay to a tiki afternoon, when nothing else is on the calendar. Then hold a sunset cruise for the last full evening, so the trip finishes on the water instead of in a parking garage. That one runs out Gordon Pass toward Keewaydin Island, the wild, boat-only barrier island just south of town, with the color building behind it. Three boats, three moods, one week.

From Bellasera to the dock, and how to pace the week

A short run east down the same street you’re already staying on. Here’s the honest version, step by step.

Start: 9th Street South, Old Naples

Bellasera sits at 221 9th Street South, right where the Old Naples grid opens onto 5th Avenue South. That corner is the useful part for you: the whole downtown stretch — the shops, the ice cream, the sidewalk tables that don’t mind a stroller — is on foot from your door, and the street you’re standing at the top of runs east until it hits Naples Bay. That’s where we are. Nothing about a water day here requires a long haul out of town, which is exactly why families staying at Bellasera can fit a cruise into a morning and still have the whole afternoon left over. It also means the boat never has to swallow the whole day. Two hours out on Naples Bay, a short ride back up the street, and the rest of the afternoon is still yours to spend on foot.

The drive or the rideshare

Plan on about a 5–10 minute drive east to Naples Bay Resort & Marina at 1500 5th Avenue South. That’s a range and not a promise — season and time of day move it — so drop your exact address into your own map app before the first trip and trust your phone over our estimate. With a family, a rideshare is often the simpler call: no parking hunt with tired kids in the back, and nobody circling the block while everyone else waits at the dock. If you’re driving yourselves, give it a few extra minutes on a busy evening. It’s a flat, straight, uncomplicated run either way.

The dock: Naples Bay Resort & Marina

We meet you at Naples Bay Resort & Marina, on protected Naples Bay a few blocks east of the 5th Avenue shops. It’s a calm, level, walkable marina rather than a beach launch, and that matters more than it sounds when you’re herding kids and a bag — no surf, no ramp, no scramble to get aboard. Once you book we send the exact slip and a where-to-meet note, so nobody is wandering the docks reading boat names with a four-year-old in tow. Restrooms are right there before you board. Show up ten minutes early and the whole thing stays unhurried, which with a family is most of the battle.

Parking & arrival

There’s parking at and around the marina and through the 5th Avenue South district nearby, and on a quiet morning it’s a non-issue. Evenings downtown fill up, so if you’ve booked a sunset cruise, either come early or skip the question entirely with a rideshare — that’s our honest recommendation for anything late in the day. Strollers can stay in the car; the walk to the boat is short and level. If someone runs late, or a nap detonates the schedule, call us at (239) 301-8913 before you panic. What to bring for a family day

Keep it light: soft-soled shoes, hats, sunglasses and reef-safe sunscreen, plus a layer each for the ride home — the bay runs cooler than the sidewalk once the sun drops. Coast Guard-approved life jackets are aboard for every guest, kids included, and we size them before we leave the slip. On the tiki you bring your own cooler, food, drinks and music, so a family can pack lunch and make an afternoon of it. Bring a real camera, or at least wipe the smudge off your phone lens. Anything you’d hate to watch sink into three feet of bay water is better left back in the room.

Then: spreading it across the stay

Here’s the part one-night guests never get to use. Book the dolphin tour early, while everyone is fresh and you want something short and low-commitment. Hold the tiki for a mid-stay afternoon with nothing else on it — that’s the one where a slow loop or a swim stop actually fits. Put the sunset cruise on your last full evening. And if the weather turns on one of those days, which in summer it can and fast, you still have other days to slide it into. That’s the quiet advantage of a longer stay: call us and we’ll move it rather than cancel it. One thing worth doing early, though — book the tiki first. It’s a single boat, it runs private only, and it fills up first over holiday weeks and school breaks.

Adults without gear sometimes walk it. With kids, a cooler, towels and a stroller in the mix, we’d take the 5–10 minute drive or a rideshare and save everyone’s legs for the boat. The nicest version is doing both: ride out to the dock, cruise, then walk back up 5th Avenue for dinner and let the kids fall asleep on the way home. What order should we do the trips in over a few days?

If you’re here several nights, start with a dolphin tour early in the stay. It’s the shortest, most forgiving trip on the list and it shows you quickly how everyone handles a boat. Put the tiki in the middle of the week on an afternoon with nothing else on it — that’s the one where a swim stop or a long slow loop genuinely fits. Then hold a sunset cruise for your last full evening so the trip ends out on the water. If weather scrubs a day, a longer stay gives you somewhere to move it, which one-night guests never have. And if you end up with a spare morning and older kids, ask us about shelling — that trip leaves from our Goodland dock southeast of Marco Island, a longer drive but the real thing: wild barrier-island beaches, year-round, empty shells only under Collier County law.

Is the tiki boat safe for young kids?

It was built with families in mind. The tiki carries 39.5-inch safety rails all the way around the deck, a full thatched roof for shade on hot afternoons, cushioned seating and Coast Guard-approved life jackets for every guest, sized before we leave the slip. It’s booked privately, up to 26 guests, so the only people aboard are yours — no strangers to stay quiet for and no fixed script to keep up with. You bring the food, drinks and playlist. Our captains keep the pace easy, hold to protected water when that’s the right call, and are well used to a deck with toddlers on it.

Can we book more than one trip across our stay?

Absolutely — it’s the most common thing longer-stay families do here.
