From Crescent Beach it’s about a 15-minute drive — realistically 15 to 20 depending on the causeway, the light at San Marco Road, and the time of year — so check your own route the morning of and leave yourself a small cushion. Often, yes. Wild bottlenose dolphins live in these waters year-round and turn up on a great many of our trips, especially the dolphin-and-wildlife cruise, where finding them is the whole point. That said, they’re wild animals moving on their own schedule, so we never promise a sighting — anyone who does isn’t being straight with you. What we can offer is a captain who knows the passes and flats where dolphins tend to feed and play, and who’ll put you in the right water to give you a real chance. You may also see ospreys, wading birds, and, in the cool months, manatees.
Yes, and Goodland is the right dock for it: it’s the fast way into the Ten Thousand Islands, where boat-only beaches like Keewaydin and Kice gather shells the beach crowds never reach. Shelling here is a year-round thing rather than a single season — in winter the best negative low tides fall in the morning, and in summer they swing to the evening, so we time the trip to the tide. One firm rule keeps it legal and sustainable: in Collier County you may take empty shells only. If a shell, sand dollar, or starfish is still alive, we leave it exactly where it is.
