From the water, you get your own stretch of Gulf, calm and dark, with the show going off directly overhead instead of over somebody's cooler in front of you. No traffic to fight afterward, either — you're already floating, and the ride back in is part of the night rather than the part everyone dreads.

On fireworks night, that same stillness works in your favor twice over. Where the Marco Island and Naples Shows Happen

Both cities put on their own Independence Day fireworks display over the water most years, launched from a barge within sight of the beach. Marco Island's show lights up over the Gulf side of the island, so a boat gives you options land simply can't — you can post up in the back bay for a quieter angle away from the crowd noise, or run out toward open water for a full, unobstructed sky with no rooflines or palm fronds cutting into the shot. Naples runs its own show over the Gulf as well, and if your group is staging out of Naples instead, we position for that display rather than Marco's.

One honest note: every year the Coast Guard sets a safety zone around the fireworks barge, and exactly how close boats are allowed to sit shifts depending on that zone and how it's enforced that evening. We won't promise a specific anchorage months in advance — what we can promise is that our captains read the water and the traffic that night and get you into the best legal spot available, rather than guessing from a chart in June.

Where Our Captains Like to Sit for the View

Most years, our captains favor open water beyond the main channel, clear of the raft-up of runabouts and jet skis that clog the marina exits after dark. It's close enough to the safety zone that the bursts still fill the windshield, but far enough out that you're not jockeying for position with a dozen other boats when the finale hits. Goodland's calmer approach makes for an easy staging point if your group is departing from there, and a stretch like Coon Key gives a quieter alternative angle away from the main crush of boat traffic closer to the island.

None of this is guaranteed to be the exact same spot two years running — wind, tide, and where the safety zone lands all shift the plan — but the goal every Fourth is the same: open sky, a clean reflection on the water, and enough distance from the crowd that your group can actually hear each other over the show.

The Fourth is one of the first nights on our calendar to sell out every year, so if you already know you want to be on the water for it, book now rather than waiting until June.
